For my senior illustration thesis, I was given the open prompt to create a well-researched body of work around any topic of my choosing. After some exploration, I decided to focus on the idea of memories using pixilation as a motif. I played a lot of video games as a kid, so pixilated imagery is very nostalgic to me. The more I researched, I found that the low-resolution aspects of pixel art tie into not only my memories, but the way memory works in general. I created a series of work exploring my childhood memories and a group of test pieces to experiment with different ways to implement the pixels into my art.
